Countdown Calculator
Count the days until a target date, or the days since a past date.
Result
- Days left
- 30
How it works
Choose a target date. The result shows how many whole days remain, or how many have already passed.
When this question comes up
Countdowns are used for launch dates, exam dates, visa expiry and renewal windows. What people actually want is the number of whole days, because that is what a calendar shows. Mixing in hours makes the figure harder to act on and, close to midnight, harder to trust.
Rules and limits
- Only whole calendar days are counted, measured from today in your device's time zone.
- A date in the past is reported as days ago, and the number shown is always positive.
- This is a date countdown: it does not resolve hours, minutes, or seconds, so a target later today still reads 0 days.
Worked example
On 1 Jan 2026, a target of 1 Feb 2026 shows 31 days left
Checking the result by hand
Treat both dates as plain calendar dates and subtract, ignoring the time of day. Today to the same date next month is 28, 29, 30 or 31 days depending on the month. If the target has already passed, the same subtraction gives the number of days since it went by.
FAQ
What if the date is in the past?
You will see how long ago it was, labelled as days ago.
Can it count hours and minutes?
Not in this version — the countdown works in whole days only.
